Chemrez Technologies, Inc., the Philippines’ largest and only publicly-listed biodiesel manufacturer and green chemical company, has signed an agreement with the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) to sponsor the first-ever Chemrez Green Chemistry Awards for the National Inventors Week 2008 celebrations in November.

A total of nine awards in trophies and cash prizes for ‘green chemistry’ entries await companies, students and researchers who submit their applications to the TAPI–DoST by close of office hours at 5:00 pm on September 30, 2008.

There are two categories to the awards: a) regular awards for the general public, individuals or groups; profit or non-profit organizations, and b) Sibol awards for students, individuals or groups; high school or college level.

Application forms may be downloaded and submitted via the DoST website at tapi.dost.gov.ph. TAPI is the Technology Applications Promotions Institute of the DoST which administers the National Inventors Week (NIW) exhibits in November, with headquarters at the DoST compound in Taguig.

Chemrez Green Chemistry Awards seek to honor and provide national recognition to the individuals, groups, companies, scientists, researchers and inventors who have made discoveries or innovations in chemistry along this path to a healthier world.
